Scene of the Crime, 1993, 132 x 420 x 188"
Mixed media installation with furniture, video & objects, Bronx Museum for the Arts
Osorio installations challenge viewer concepts of space, location, and social constructs. Passion and anger rage from the deep red drapery and carpet. Repetition of stabbing knives into gold upholstery alarms and frightens. Osorio says that the white of of the dining room recalls spirituality and meditation. Upset and confusion drift out from the clutter and broken dishes. The central, unnamed corpse lies under a bloody sheet in the midst of the confusion and passion.
