Kendal Murray

Deja Vu, Review, mixed media, 2011, Powerhouse Museum, Australia

Daylong Sing Along, 6x8x7cm, mixed media assemblage, Arthouse Gallery, Australia

Murray creates small collages of found objects to create fantasy worlds and to explore social and personal meaning.  Everyday domestic life and fantasy merge in the Deja Vu miniature installation.  Housework and travel blend humorously with each others as a woman vacuums leaves from a trailer.    Daylong Sing Along repeats the use of purses as a shepherd sings to a flock of sheep on a lush grassy field.  Fantasy transforms purses from money holders to scenes of outdoor life.
